I wrote this song at 22. A close friend of mine told me about the abusive relationship she had just gotten out of. She was being physically and emotionally abused and felt trapped in the situation she was in. It took a lot of strength to break out of that situation and she told me she needed freedom. With the culmination of that story, my own experiences of feeling trapped at points in my life, and the statistics of domestic abuse in the country, I was inspired to write this song. It's about wanting to escape and have freedom from an abusive relationship. I wrote this for her and anyone else that feels trapped in a toxic situation.
