I wrote this poem a few years back while taking an environmental science class. The class focused on the endless ways the human species is wrecking the Earth, and how all of our actions have a ripple effect on everything else. What really stuck with me, however, is how our professor still managed to impress upon us how if negative actions have a ripple effect, then good actions do as well. Rather than assuming the end is here so why even try, we should instead work to be better and fight for the Earth. We may not currently live in a world without suffering and shortages, but we have a limitless capacity to change.
